The Flav-R-Pac NHRA Northwest Nationals in Kent, Wash, July 21-23, 2023, was a turn-around weekend for Doug Kalitta, the driver of the Mac Tools, Revchem, Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, as the team advanced to the final round. This is the second event in a row that Kalitta has advanced to the final round.

During the qualifying rounds, Kalitta clinched the number two qualifier position, marking the sixth time in the last seven races that he qualified within the top six. Doug ran 3.753 ET and 327.66 mph.

During eliminations, Doug made it to the final round after finishing ahead of Ron Smith and Clay Millican. However, in the final showdown, a minor setback caused the tires to lose traction, ultimately resulting in a loss to Steve Torrence.

It was really a good weekend for us,” said Kalitta. “Going to the final again – all my guys are working really hard on this thing, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we have going on. It was there for the taking in the final, and it was one of those deals where we let one get away”.

Doug Kalitta left Seattle in the sixth position in the NHRA Top Fuel point standings. With a mere 17-point gap between him and the fifth-place driver, Austin Prock, and a 13-point lead over the seventh-place contender, Antron Brown.

It was the second-consecutive race which all 3 Kalitta Motorsports teams reached the semifinals.
